Republic Airlines Captain Chris Royals

Republic Airlines Captain Christopher (Chris) Royals, died Monday, Oct. 22, at his home in Conway, South Carolina. He was 37.

Chris hired into Chautauqua Airlines in March of 2001 and transferred to Republic in January 2010 as a Captain flying the Embraer E170. He had been on leave of absence since July 2011, after being diagnosed with cancer. Chris was a part of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Captain Royals was a member of Horry Masonic Lodge #381 and Omar Shrine Temple where he was a member of the “Vettes”. He graduated from Conway High School with honors and the North American School of Aviation.

Funeral services for Captain Royals will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Langston Baptist Church in Conway. Entombment with Masonic Rites will follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
